Suggested Transcription Principles
Transcribe abbreviations using italics to show it is no original text. To do this, please place only those characters in italics which are not shown in the extract to be transcribed but which derive from an abbreviation in the line which has been transcribed.
Normalise the transcription of v/u (v for consonants, u for vowels).
Normalise the transcription j/i (j for consonants, i for vowels) .
Normalise the spaces and the punctuation, since spaces and divisions are not always clear and punctuation isn’t used in the manuscript.
Use the modern division of words and to introduce punctuation signs as in modern French.
Do not make a distinction between different versions of the same letter (long/short s etc).
